Changing Everything

We had a LiveJournal, which we usually forgot to update.  Then we started using Texty.com for announcements, and that seemed to work really well - except there was no ongoing record, just the current announcement.  However, now that I'm trying to redesign the site, I'm having trouble getting things to work.  I thought putting an RSS widget on the page would work, if we started using our LiveJournal for News & Updates like we're supposed to.  However, I'm not liking the way you get hit with ads nowadays, and I really don't want to do that to people, so trying Blogger...

Email Stripper

Do you hate all those extra ">" and other formatting characters that show up when you forward emails?  I do, and I used to take the time to delete them, but that is such a pain.  And takes way more time than I really want to take.  That's why I love the free Email Stripper from PaperCut.  All you have to do is paste the messy email into the program and click the "Strip It!" button, and it cleans that email right up.

Then simply copy the cleaned email and paste it into a new email message.  How cool is that?

Getting Started in Genealogy - Free Download

I've never really gotten into it, but I know a lot of people enjoy looking into their genealogy and family history.  The Internet makes it a lot easier than it used to be, but it's still hard to know where to start and where to look.  I got an email today offering this free e-book download - Getting Started in Genealogy Online - and thought others might be interested in it.

It's 67 pages of basic information to help you get started tracing your family tree online.

Solar Calendar Proves Biblical Sabbath

Join us, in person or on line, for the next 3 Friday nights, May 7, 14 and 21 at 8pm as Don Roth presents a three part series on his calendar calculation: SOLAR CALENDAR PROVES BIBLICAL SABBATHS, that looks at how to place events in the Bible from a unique view point. Instead of trying to establish events in the Bible from now and ...go backwards as most historians do, he has used the accounts of the Bible and started from zero and counted forwards using the examples, text and events of the scriptures. Don Roth will present the charts and equations he has come up with and we encourage you to join in, and feedback is very much encouraged. We look forward to having you join us for this presentation and discussion

A quote from his paper:
“It would add a great measure of certainty about this calendar if a solar calendar were constructed by seven day Sabbaths, beginning with the creation week, showing that its Sabbaths coincide with the Hebrew Calculated Calendar (HCC) and the biblical accounts of creation, the flood and its Sabbaths in Gen. 7, the Sabbaths of Ex. 16 and the Passover of Josh. 5:10-12. This would establish a solid foundation to project dates through the entire bible and confirm the validity of the HCC.

Through further study of the solar calendar, beginning with the creation year, it will be shown that the progression of the seven day week through the solar years will match the Sabbaths of Genesis 7 and 8 and Exodus 16. The HCC, when brought forward by its nineteen year cycles will also match these Sabbaths, thus adding the mathematical proof that the HCC is the calendar that God employed in the accounts of the bible; thus making it the only usable calendar for God’s people.”

Don has based his calculation on the Hebrew Calculated Calendar (HCC) and his own Seven Day Solar calendar. The HCC can be a hot topic in calendar discussions so I would like to say that whether you use the HCC, the Observed Calendar, First Crescent, the conjunction or the Abib or the various versions of establishing the Holy Days, they all come together/ reconcile every 19 years so it may be a moot point in what he has to offer.

(on a personal note: What Don has to offer is so very interesting and innovative, I don’t want his presentation derailed because of his firm belief in the HCC being used from the beginning. Give him a chance to introduce his charts and tables and get the gist of what he is presenting and then determine if the postponements make a difference to the outcome.)

He definitely wants input and discussion on what he is presenting, there is a lot of math involved and many charts, which will be available on line.
