Free Word Widget for Your Blog or Website

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of anagrammer for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

You know I love word games.  I don't even know how many Scrabble, Lexulous, and Words with Friends games I have going right now.  I'm sure I'm not alone.  Lots of people are playing these word games.
Now the word game gurus at Anagrammer™ have created this easy to install and easy to use Word Widget.  It's great for finding and learning new words.  Enter some letters - yes, they could be the actual letters you have in one of those word games, but that would be cheating, wouldn't it?  I think the fun would be in entering my letters and then searching after I've made my move, just to see what else I could have played, because cheating just doesn't seem right.

Anyway, the purpose of this widget is to add a bit of interactivity to your blog or website.  There are so many people playing these word games and giving them a tool to, hopefully not cheat, but to improve their game skills will give people an incentive to visit your site and to spend some time there, too.  According to research done by Anagrammer™ blog visitors spend, on average, an extra 8 minutes on the page when one of these widgets is intalled.  I'm inclined to believe them, because I've been playing with the demo widget for a while now.

Did I mention that the widget is free?  And easy to install and customize?  Simply choose Anagrammer for Scrabble or Anagrammer for Words With Friends and then choose either the Simple Design or Colorful Design (above).  Then copy and paste the code to your site.  Get the Widget Code & Live Demo to see how much this widget can add to your site.  Warning: It may be addictive to you and your site visitors.

Circle the Cat

One of my friends just shared this little game on Facebook. It looks pretty simple at first glance. Just click the light green dots to turn them dark green and keep the cat from getting out. But, like the game says, he's a pretty smart cat. I had to keep trying it until I finally got him contained. I'm not sure exactly why it worked that time, so I'm sure I'll be wasting more time on this.

And if I'm wasting time, you might as well be too. See how long it takes you to Circle the Cat.

The Fridge

I don't know about you, but I really love magnetic poetry - you know, those little words for your fridge. I'm not sure any of my creations qualify as poetry, but I'm addicted to moving those little words around to form interesting phrases. The other day I found The Fridge, so now I can play with those little word magnets online.

There are several wordsets you can choose from, or you can even add a bookmarklet to your browser so you can highlight words from any web page to use. Once you've composed the poem of the century, discard all the extra words, add a title and your preferred nom de plume , and save your poem. You'll be able to save the link or even embed it in your own web page or blog, like I did here.

I would suggest, if you're planning to embed it and have limited width like I do here, build your poem on the left-hand side instead of right in the middle of the space so it can be read without scrolling, but at least you get the idea. (I limited the width to fit my space. By default I think it comes in full size when you embed it, so feel free to place your words any where you want them)

This could definitely be addictive!

It Seems Like Cheating

Yesterday I found this Scrabble word finder. I think it looks like it could be very handy, but it does almost seem like cheating. You can input all the letters in your Scrabble rack as well as the optional word pattern using letters and spaces already on the board. The word finder returns a list of all possible words sorted by score, length or alphabetically.

I was playing Scrabulous on Facebook recently and tried and tried to find a word that would use all my letters. I had the perfect place to put it, but I just couldn't figure anything out. I wonder if this would have helped me? Still, I'm not sure how I would feel about actually playing whatever word it found for me. That doesn't stop me from saving the link, just in case.

More Games

I found another game site today. It's called TheWeather.TK and they have games in all kinds of different categories.

I'm going to have to visit again to check some more of them out, because right now it's bedtime.

For Wasting Time

I found this site for Flash games today. I thought it was just for playing games, but then I realized they give you the code so you can put games you like on your own site or blog. This was the first game I tried playing, so I thought I'd go ahead and try putting it on my blog, too. Everybody needs to waste a little time sometimes, right?
